Two Punjab truckers killed in militant attack in J&K

Kashmir, Oct 24 (IANS): Militants targeted non-local truck drivers in Chitragam Zainapora of Shopian district in South Kashmir killing two truckers, sources said here on Thursday.

Two more narrowly escaped after they abandoned their trucks and fled. The truckers were from Hoshiarpur, Punjab.

This is the second such incident in the state in less than a month.

A Punjab apple trader and his truck drivers were shot by militants in Shopian last week. The truck driver died while his assistant was injured.

Following that incident the non-local apple traders and truckers were moved to safer locations.
