Woman in custody for bogus voting in Kerala

Kasargode (Kerala), Oct 21 (IANS): A woman was taken into custody on Monday after the presiding officer at the a polling station in Kerala's Manjeswaram Assembly constituency raised a complaint of bogus voting against her.

The woman Nabeesa was not a voter in the constituency, according to poll officials.

After the presiding officer at Bakrabayal polling station was suspicious of Nabeesa, he immediately registered a complaint and the police took her into custody.

At Manjeswaram a tough battle between the Indian Union Muslim League of the Congress-led UDF and the BJP is on.

In 2016 the IUML candidate scrapped through by a margin of 89 votes against the BJP.

Its candidate Abdul Razack passed away last year and hence the bypoll was necessitated.
