Mumbai, Aug 1: India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki Saturday reported a 33.4 percent increase in sales for July to 78,074 units compared to 58,543 units in the same month last year. Of these 10,546 cars were exported.
The car maker posted total sales of 304,803 units, an increase of 21.4 percent for the quarter. This included exports of 39,860 units, representing a 119.9 percent growth over the same period of the last fiscal.
Maruti had reported a 25.3 percent increase in net profits to Rs.583.5 crore for the quarter ended June 30 and said net sales grew 34 percent to Rs.6,340 crore in the quarter under review compared to the year-ago period.
Maruti's sales in the compact car (A2) segment comprising Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star grew 38.3 percent. The company sold 48,115 units in this segment as against 34,795 units sold in July last year.
The company also logged record sale of models in its mid-sized (A3) segment comprising SX4 and D'zire. A3 model sales grew 51.5 percent to 9,101 cars.
Sales of Maruti 800, however, fell by 43.5 percent to 2,796.
