Lokayukta raids MP excise officer, unearths assets worth crores


Indore, Oct 15 (IANS): The Lokayukta police on Tuesday raided the properties of a senior Madhya Pradesh excise department official and found assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, said sources.

After receiving complaints that Alok Khare, Assistant Commissioner, Madhya Pradesh Excise Department, possessed disproportionate assets as many as seven teams of Lokayukta police conducted simultaneous searches at the premises of Khare in Indore, Bhopal, Raisen and Chhatarpur.

Police are examining documents recovered during the raids.

During the raids, documents related to immovable assets, including a bungalow and a flat in Indore have been seized. Besides, information about two bungalows, a house and other immovable properties has been revealed.

Police also seized Rs 10 lakh and Rs 5 lakh cash in Bhopal and Raisen, respectively.

Moreover, information about immovable properties such as two lavish farmhouses spread over 57 acres of land belonging to him has been revealed during the searches.
