Dehradun, Oct 13: BJP has sent a notice to Rudrapur's BJP MLA, Rajkumar Thukral after he was found making anti-Muslim statements. A video of the incident shows the MLA making questionable statements against the community in his constituency.
Thukral addressed at a gathering stating that he will never visit a mosque or will visit a Muslim home during Roza-Iftar. Thukral claimed that Muslim women serve water to Hindus after they have spat in the glass to desecrate Hindu religion.
The BJP MLA can be heard in the video referring to Muslims as being 'disloyal' to the country. Referring to the sloganeering against India in the JNU campus, he said, "They live and eat in India and say 'Bharat tere tukde honge."
Discarding Thukral's remarks, Uttarakhand's BJP president, Ajay Bhatt clarified that the views expressed by the MLA are personal and not supported by BJP.
"The BJP is a party whose beliefs lie in the philosophy of 'sarvajan hitay sarvajan sukhay' (welfare and happiness of all)," Bhatt said.
Following the unruly behaviour of Thukral, BJP general secretary Anil Goyal issued a notice to him, seeking an explanation for his conduct. In the notice, Goyal threatened to initiate unilateral disciplinary action against Thukral if he did not submit an explanation within one week.
