Six held in Odisha with leopard hide

Bhubaneswar, Sep 24 (IANS): Six people were arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle leopard hide in the Deogarh district of Odisha, said a forest official on Tuesday.

During a raid, the forest officials seized the leopard hide on Monday in Chhatibarghat village under the Tileibani section of the Deogarh Forest division.

"We have seized a leopard skin and apprehended six. They were planning to smuggle the hide either to Rourkela or Sambalpur," said Deogarh Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Kshyama Sarangi.

Investigation to find out involvement of others in the smuggling is on.

The forest officials team tracked the smugglers posing as customers for the leopard hide, the official said.
