People Curious about Rani & Me: Shahid

TNN

Mumbai, Jul 17: It was left to Ritiesh Deshmukh to be the one to bring the glad tidings to Shahid Kapoor . The young actor, who has three releases this year in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminey (August 14), Aditya Chopra’s Dil Bole Hadippa! (September 18) and Ken Ghosh’s Yahoo (year end), has been nominated as Best Actor for the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Award 2009. Shahid, whose performance in 2007’s Jab We Met is still being discussed, blushed, “I’m too young to be receiving such a big honour, but I’m also humbled.’’

He is happy, also, with the promos of Kaminey and Dil Bole Hadippa! which are on air currently. “They are absolutely contrasting,’’ said the actor thrilled to be able to showcase his entire oeuvre this year. “And the cherry on the cake is the fact that Yahoo has me doing what I love best — dancing! Four years of all that I learned in dance has gone into this one film.’’

While the Kaminey promotions carry the buzz of his reported affair with Priyanka Chopra, Shahid felt, “Dil Bole Hadippa! has an edge because people are inquisitive about Rani Mukerji and me. They want to know more about our screen chemistry.’’

He is also happy to team up with the seasonal flavour Genelia D’Souza in Yahoo and said, “Finally I’m in a space where I can do whatever I wish as far as my roles go.’’
