New Delhi, Jul 4: Backing Rahul Gandhi on his decision to resign as the Congress chief, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday tweeted "Few have the courage that you do Rahul Gandhi. Deepest respect for your decision."

Lauding him for his “courageous" decision, Priyanka Gandhi attached the four-page open letter by Rahul Gandhi in her tweet.

Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday formally resigned as Congress president and told reporters that the party should choose a new president "quickly and without further delay" and that he was not part of the process at all as he had already resigned.

Party sources informed on Wednesday that a new president will be chosen within a weeks time as Rahul Gandhi resigned as Congress chief.

In his four-page open letter Rahul Gandhi urged the Congress Working Committee (CWC) to entrust a group of people with the task of finding a new president as it would not be proper for him to do so.

    The Congress in DK with all the leaders and all the supporters , lacs of them present should hold a big dharna in front of Congress office in Mlore requesting RaGa to withdraw his resignation. It would be a good oppurtunity for the young guns like Mithun Rai to show case the event and grow politically. I doubt any one else can handle the mantle like RaGA. A Nehru -Gandhi Parivar member is a must for Congress and of course the minorities.

    Your party was rejected in most of the states. Resignation for your own good because people will reject you infinite number of times if Rahul is leading from the front.
    Again, you’ve been selective in naming the new president, the only right guy for the job is Punjab CM Amarinder Singh.
    If you want Congress to come back drastically he’s the key.
    But the Gandhi’s will never find a place for a decade atleast if he leads.
    Political drama for power and money - life is easy- tax payers money will be spent on them

    Irrespective of which party leads the center

    Finance minister - who doesn’t hold a degree in finance
    Defense minister- who has no knowledge about 3 forces
    Home minister- who holds a post without any basics

    We the people elect MLA MPs but the ministers post be given to an educated and a qualified one
    Appointing the respective post through his or her’s Education qualification and experience in the respective portfolio
    Neither will we have to comment when we expert leading our country

    when all luxury, power, authority available even after no president post, then is resignation shows courage!!!...Its once gain same story like Sonia, without PM post she was PM in UPA1&UPA2...Its highly dangerous to the country, power without responsibility..no one blames her , poor MMS bore burnt..lets be clear Congress senior played game against him since 2014...He tried to do a Modi/Shah, to relieve seniors and bring new young leaders but he failed, he didnt had courage like Modi/shah..seniors ganged up against him until end of 2017, but election fast approached when they grouped once again..
