Don't Focus on My Jeans Button - Akki

TNN

Mumbai, Apr 25: The daredevil action star is busy completing his television series in South Africa. From there, he goes to Singapore and then returns to Mumbai... and whatever awaits him here. He is most upset that he faces arrest for being unbuttoned on the ramp at the Lakme Fashion Week recently by wife Twinkle. “Why is there so much interest in one button on my jeans when there are so many really critical problems facing the country including the Lok Sabha elections,” demanded Akshay.

According to Akshay, this incident was blown out of proportion. Brushing aside the obscenity complaint filed with the Vakola police by a citizen against this act, the actor told BT, “It was nothing. Last year, too, a girl opened one button on my jeans as part of an endorsement because the campaign signified freedom. This time it was my wife. It was not a last-minute improvisation on the ramp. It was all part of the act. In a country hit by poverty and economic recession, someone makes an issue about my wife unbuttoning my jeans! They should appreciate the fact that I asked Twinkle rather than a stranger.”

Then, in a hard-hitting statement, the actor who has been declared the highest taxpayer for 2008-09 in Bollywood, lashed out, “Here I am being declared the highest taxpayer by the government. Isn’t it strange that the same government thought of arresting me instead of appreciating the hard work that went into adding some money into its coffers?”
