Mangalore: Denial of Information - Two Corporation Officials Fined

Mangalore, Jan 23: In a judgment that promises to awaken the officials who are taking the provisions of the Rights to Information Act lightly, Karnataka Information Commission has levied a fine of Rs 5,000 each on the chief accounts officer in the City Corporation Jagadish and its executive engineer Rajashekhar.

The judgment stipulated, that the officers will have to make good the fine in two equal installments of Rs 2,500 each, by way of deduction from their salaries payable for January and February, 2009.

The judgment was given on a complaint filed by Prakash Bhat from the city.
