Udupi: Relieved after Homecoming, No Expectations - Manorama

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jan 22: "After being suspended from the BJP, I was feeling listless. Hence I felt I should go back to the fold of the Congress party. I have no expectations from that party and it feels like pleasant homecoming," said ex-MP Manorama Madhwaraj, explaining about her feelings after returning back to her parent party after briefly cutting off her association with it.

Addressing a press conference convened at her home on Wednesday January 21, Madhwaraj said that she remained neutral in the trust vote relating to the nuclear deal, as she was strongly in favour of the deal. This angered the BJP leadership. "Since the beginning, I did not get proper recognition and respect in that party, right from the lower rungs to the top," she explained.

She clarified that she does not intend to fight the next Loksabha election. However, she clarified that she would work for the success of the Congress candidates and that she would discharge her duties honestly if given a responsible position in that party.

When questioned as to whether her son Pramod Madhwaraj prevailed on her to join the Congress, she replied in the negative. She reminded that the Congress had provided her various opportunities in the past to serve the party and the people.
