Nice to Know that Fans Missed Me: Sushmita Sen

Mumbai, Jan 21: Sushmita Sen , the former beauty queen who has not been seen in a single Bollywood movie for more than a year, says she is back in the thick of work.

Much has been written about the tragic decline of Sush’s career, the lady who sizzled in designer saris in Main Hoon Na and in ragged jeans in Zindagi Rocks . But Sush’s zindagi hasn’t exactly been rocking ever since she played the widow in the celluloid torture called Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag .

A big film of Sush which was supposed to release in 2008 got postponed. And there were problems on her personal front as well.

Unfortunately, we all go through bad phases. I know I wasn't visible last year. It was just that my films did not release when they were supposed to and my dad underwent surgery. But I am back with my films and it's nice to know that my fans missed me," says the actress who was in Delhi recently.

But 2009 would augur well for Sush’s career. Her long stalled Dulha Mil Gaya (with a cameo by Shahrukh Khan ) is complete and would hit the theatres this year along with her two other films – Do Knot Disturb and Karma Confessions and Holy .

Besides, she is also in talks to play the assassinated Pakistani leader Benazir Bhutto in a Pak film.

"I have been approached to play Benazir and the producers are waiting for permission from all concerned to begin shooting," says Sushmita.

Sush also has plans to produce-direct and act in her dream project on Rani Laxmibai. Some progress was made on the project last year but it has been put on the backburner now.

"Rani Laxmibai is an expensive film and with the industry going through a financial recession, it is not the right time to make a film like that," she says.

Sushmita added that she is also looking forward to work with Kamal Haasan in his Rs 110 crore project Marmayogi.
