Udupi: `Silence of the Good is a Major Problem' – Justice M F Saldanha

Udupi, Jan 19: Addressing the audience during the annual day celebrations at Milagres College, Kallianpur Justice M F Saldanha (Rtd High Court Judge of Karnataka) stated that the silence of the good and the intellectuals is causing a major problem to the society. He gave a call to the student public that they should positively respond to the problems around to contribute their share to create a healthy society. "Failure should be considered as an opportunity to live a challenging life" he said.


 

He expressed his happiness over the excellent academic atmosphere in the college and said that, though he had heard and read, he personally experienced the quality of excellence and named the college as one of the best institutions in the country.

Fr Marcel Saldanha, the correspondent, presided over the programme, Principal Fr Fred Mascarenhas read the annual report of the college. Prizes to the student achievers were distributed on this occasion. Sadashiva Alse, Principal, P U college welcomed the guests and the gathering. Vikram Devadiga, the president of the student Welfare Council proposed vote of thanks. Jevinson and Afreen compeered the programme. Variety entertainment programme followed.

    Yes, Justice Saldanha is quite right. No problem can be solved unless it is addressed openly by a large majority of the presently silent so called "good", who simply dont want to be bothered, have given up or are too scared to speak up for fear of repercussion.
