M'lore: No Need to Form Separate Investigating Teams to Probe Katipalla Murder - Deshpande

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jan 19: Speaking to reporters at Katipalla near Suratkal, which had witnessed the murder of a youth named Tanzeem about a week ago, on Sunday January 18, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president R V Deshpande urged the government to hold detailed probe into the murder of Tanzeem in Katipalla and Mohan Ranya in Kinnigoli and punish the guilty. The probe should also cover the violent incidents that occurred after the Katipalla murder too, he demanded. At the same time, he felt there was no necessity to constitute separate investigating teams for investigating these murders and disturbances.

Criticizing the state government for not allowing the officials to function independently and  harassing them through frequent transfers, Deshpande said the state has been witnessing increased incidences of violence since the BJP rose to power here. He charged the government with not doing honest efforts to rein in the situation.

The KPCC president dubbed the legislature session held in Belgaum as a political stunt, Deshpande said that the session suffered from want of sufficient time for discussing the issues of the state's progress and burning problems.

He revealed, that his party is aiming to  finalize the list of candidates for all the Loksabha seats in the state before the end of February. "We have drawn up plans to ensure that the party wins maximum number of seats this time," he declared. A tour of all the constituencies would be undertaken by 14 teams constituted for the purpose, before February 4 for reorganizing the party and brighten its future prospects, he explained. He   also came down heavily on the JD(S) for giving leverage to the BJP to grow in the state and also to have allowed that party to enjoy power in the state. He contended, that the JD(S) therefore,  has no moral grounds to criticize the Congress.

Mulky-Moodbidri MLA Abhaychandra Jain, ex-MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty, DK District Congress minorities wing president B A Mohiuddin Bawa, city corporators  Basheer Ahmed, Navin, Abdul Sattar etc., were present.
