Puttur: Awareness on Constitution Must be Promoted—Judge Subhash Adi

Puttur, Jan 19: A programme to create awareness about the constitution was held recently.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Subhash B Adi, judge, High Court, said that the constitution was formed 60 years ago, but still the work of disseminating knowledge about it to the common man had not been undertaken. Awareness must be created among people in this regard, he said.

The labourers do not know of the minimum amount of wages they are entitled to as per the constitution. People are unaware of their rights and duties. They are least bothered to read or know more about this great book of the country, he said.

Eshappa Boote, civil judge, Puttur, presided over the function. Dr K Harish Kumar, assistant commisioner, Puttur, participated as the chief guest.

Chandrakala Nandavar, principal, Ganapati Pre-University College, delivered a lecture on rights and values of the constitution.

K R Acharya, president, organizing committee, delivered the introductory speech on the occasion.

Fr Vijaya Harvin, convener, organizing committee, welcomed the gathering while Salmara Nooruddin, lawyer, proposed the vote of thanks.
