Karwar, Jan 17: State fisheries, science and technology minister Anand Asnotikar has advised Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president R V Deshpande to get rid of his habit of hatching political conspiracies. "The voters have rejected Deshpande's politics of conspiracies by defeating the Congress candidate. He should therefore, concentrate more on giving suggestions and extending cooperation to the government towards development of the district," Asnotikar said.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday January 15, Asnotikar accused Deshpande of levelling unfound allegations against him. “The people have vindicated my position by rejecting the allegations and voting for me,” he claimed.

When the journalists wanted to know details of such conspiracies, Asnotikar said that Deshpande had linked him with the Rajkamal Company which is involved with the construction of a jetty in Belekery port, accusing him of indulging in malpractices. "He also alleged that my home located near river Kali in Karwar is locatd within the Coastal Regulatory Zone limits, which was again a baseless allegation. He also brought pressure on officials to demolish a hotel owned by me. False cases were registered against me and those close to me," he explained.

Saying that he respects Deshpande as a fatherly figure, Asnotikar said, that the Congress leader, who is backed by a rich experience of having functioned as a minister, would do well to provide suggestions and guidance to the two ministers from the district i.e., himself and Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri.
