Udupi: Coastal Karnataka Temple Trustees Convention in Srikrishna Math on Jan 15

Udupi, Jan 9: A convention of temple trustees from across the coastal Karnataka is being organized at the Rajangan of Srikrishna Math here on Thursday January 15 under the aegis of Paryaya Puttige Math, informed  the Convention Organizing Committee president Erya Laxminarayan Alva. He also added that Dharmastala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade will be honoured on the occasion of his completing 60 years of age, apart from conducting his 'Tulabhara'.

Addressing the media persons at the press conference held at Geeta Mandir of Srikrishna Math here on Wednesday January 7, Erya Laxminarayan Alva said that seminars on the responsibility of temples in promoting societal harmony, temple administrative issues and active plans for the development of temples, will be held on the occasion.

Sri Sugunendrateerta Swamiji of Puttige Math will inaugurate the convention in the morning. Retired governor Dr Rama Jois will preside over the programme.

Religious endowments commissioner Rama Naik, Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde, union minister for employment and labour Oscar Fernandes, state home minister Dr V S Acharya, Sri Laxmivarateerta Swami of Shiroor Math, Sri Raghumanyateerta Swami of Bheemanakatte Math, Sri Vidhyavallabateerta Swami of Kaniyoor Math and Sri Vishweshateerta Swami of Pejavar Math will grace the occasion. 

Dr D Veerendra Heggade will release two works titled 'Margadarshana' and 'Koti Chennaya ' at the venue.

Around 350 temple trustees from all over coastal Karnataka are expected to attend the programme.

Sri Sugunendrateerta Swami of Puttige Math, Suryanarayan Upadhyaya, M B Puranik, Dr Vijay Ballal, K Krishna Bhat, G N Bhat and Gopal Acharya were present at the press conference.

Three colourfully decorated chariots will be ceremoniously pulled during the Ratotsav at Sri Krishna Math on Tuesday January 13, auspicious day of Makara Sankranti, it was informed.

 Choornotsav Vedic rites will be performed on Wednesday January 14.
