Mangalore, Jan 7: The three-day old national strike called by the truckers all over the nation, which threatened to throw life out of gear and disrupt essential supplies resulting in soaring prices, is yet to make an impact on the normal life in the undivided Dakshina Kannada  district.

However, the number of trucks coming into the district has drastically fallen. Trucks owned by the people of the twin-districts have been moving about normally. The people have been experiencing lot of relief, as the ore trucks have suspended their operations consequent upon the strike call.

Even though prices of vegetables and essential commodities have not seen any rise as of now, the impact may be felt within two or three more days, as the stocks here get dwindled and do not get replenished to the desired extent.  The districts are heavily dependent on other districts for the supply of vegetables.
