Beltangady: Tricksters Decamp Rs 2 lac from Cashiers of Two Banks

Some unidentified persons robbed around Rs 2 lac from two Banks in Dharmasthala and Ujire, near here on Monday January 5, by hoodwinking them. 
 
The group robbed Rs 1.75 lac cash from Vijay Bank branch of Dharmasthala and around Rs 23,000 from Vishwakarma Sahakari Bank, Ujire by hoodwinking the cashiers. 
 
Three unidentified persons arrived at Dharmasthala branch of Vijaya Bank on Monday noon, at the pretext of enquiring to send money through a demand draft, later stole Rs 1.75 lac from the cashier by hoodwinking him.  The entire cash of Rs 1.75 lac was just accepted from local KSRTC depot and lying with the cashier's enclosure. 

Despite the bank staff took little longer to realize the theft of cash, in a swift operation local police managed to nab a person accused of involved in the crime.  The accused confessed the police that his accomplices had reached Subramanya Railway station.
 
At the Ujire incidence, the same group believed to have robbed Rs 23,000 from the cashier of Vishwakarma Sahakari Bank, using the same tactics.  The men drew the attention of cashier on a fallen Rs 10 note at the floor, while the cashier bent to pick up; they managed to steal the cash lying on his teller. 
 
Vijaya Bank Dharmasthala branch manager Ramesh Gowda lodged a complaint related to cash theft while Ujire Vishwakarma Sahakari Bank pigmy collector Baptist Serrao lodged complaint in another incidence.  The investigations by the police are underway to trace the accused.
