Udupi, Jan 5: The closing ceremony of the two-day 19th annual conference of South India Numismatics Society was held at Poorna Prajna College (PPC) here on Sunday January 4.

The event was jointly organized by Poorna Prajna College and the Directorate of Archeology and Museum, Mysore.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr V S Acharya, state home minister, said that the study of coins and history helps the people to know the ancient heritage of the state. Hence, more number of people must get involved with the study of coins to disseminate knowledge. The government will do whatever it can for conducting a study in ancient coins, he assured

Since the languages and coins are inter-related, the members of numismatic society can contact the Universities with regard o 'Kuppa-Dravida' language found in ancient coins for further study, he suggested.
