Mangalore, Jan 5: 'Bharatamuni Jayanti' was celebrated at Shri Krishna Kalyana Mantapa of Kadri Mallikatte on Sunday January 4.

The event was organized by Karnataka Karavali Nritya Kala Parishat that covers Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod district in Kerala.

Speaking on the occasion, A Eshwaraiah, art critic said that any organization that has an open mind to both to give and take grows in stature with each passing year. Such organizations survive for much longer duration. People with common ideals and aim join the organization. For any organization, it is natural for differences of opinion to crop up. But people can overlook the differences, by pursuing a common goal, he explained.

Young dancers must aim at increasing their knowledge on the art form they pursue, at all times. When the structural base is strengthened, even small art forms transform into art that has large following, he said.

The primary aim of an organization is to exhibit, educate and encourage the art. The growth of art can not be achieved just by holding performances and exhibiting the talents. People need to earnestly study the art form with total concentration. For survival, any art form needs also to increase the number of people interested in it, he narrated.

Dr Tulasi Ramachandra delivered vocal tribute to the Bharatamuni on the occasion.

Vishwa Prasanna Teerta Swamiji of Pejawar Math felicitated 'Naryarani Shantala' awardee Jayalakshmi Alva, K B Madhava Rao, dance instructor, Mohan Kumar Ullal, Karnataka Kala Tilaka, Kudkadi Vishwanat Rai, 'Karnataka Kalashri' award winner, B Premnat, dance instructor and Vittal, state award winner, on the occasion.
