Mangalore, Jan 5: The inauguration of constitutional rights and value training programme was held at Shri Dharmastala Manjunateshwara College (SDM) on Sunday January 4.

The programme was held as a part of ‘the Constitutional Awareness Campaign'.

Inaugurating the campaign V C Hatti, judge of the District and Sessions Court said that a healthy society is possible only when every citizen learns to respect the constitution which serves as the basic foundation for the democratic functioning of this country.

“It is necessary that every one respects the basic human values. Constitution is formed after three years of study, discussion and thinking. The main intention of the constitution is to inculcate basic human values among the people and also to safeguard the culture of our country”, he opined.

Speaking on the occasion chief civil judge Shivalinge Gowda said that the knowledge of rights gained through the constitution must be disseminated among the rural, backward, dalits and minorities.  The legal authority is being formed to give legal assistance to its people, he said.

Lolaksha delivered the key note address on the occasion. Swarnashri rendered the invocation. Ida D' Costa compered the programme. V Vidyashankar, welcomed the gathering and Balika proposed vote of thanks.
