Moodbidri: 'Muddana Kavya Award' for Deshpande Subbaraya

Moodbidri, Jan 3: Deshpande Subbaraya, a poet from Dharwad, will be honoured with the 'Mudana Kavya Prashasti- 2008' at a function to be held at  Kantavara Kannada Bhavan on Monday January 26.

The award was instituted  by Patel Punaroor Vasudeva Rao Memorial Trust of Kantavara Kannada Sangha.

Deshpande will be felicitated with the award for his work 'Moreyacheya Mukha,' said Dr N Mogasale, working president, of Kantavara  Kannada Sangh.

The award is named of reverred Kannada poet  Mudanna, a native of Nandalike and is being given annually since  1979.

Prof Muralidhar Upadhya Hiriyadka, critic and J Chandrashekar Marnamikatte, lecturer, arts department, Ajanta Arts College will felicitate Deshpande with the citation and  cash award of Rs 10, 000.

Harikrishna Punaroor, former president, Kannada Sahitya Parishat will preside over the function.

C K Padival and K L Kundantaya will participate as chief guests.
