Canada: Volleyball - Throwball Friendship Series on Jan 10

Media Release

Mississauga, Jan 3: The Mangalorean Friendship Series Initiative (MFSI) was an idea mooted from the thoughts and needs of the Mangalorean community here in Canada. With an overindulgence of every other form of social networking the need for a sports oriented program - competetive but friendly - seemed to be wanting. Some of the best relationships are formed on the sports field with temperament, spirit, fighting qualities, and sheer perseverence coming to the fore.  The Mangalorean community with its experienced and amateurs has embraced this initiative with spirit and gusto.

The MFSI tested the waters on October 5, 2008 with a limited overs cricket tournament which caught on like wildfire. A whole day of cricket, both interesting and fast paced ended with a nail biting finish with running commentary, music, spectator participation, prizes  and with the teams and players hyperventilating with excitement and clamouring to make it an annual event. It is slated as an annual event, conducted professionally every autumn.

The Volleyball/Throwball tournament for the winter session to be held on 10 January 2009 at 5880 Rivergrove community centre, Mississauga, has players and community buzzing with interest and excitement. Participation is free, with the Organisers cum Sponsors Wilson D'souza, mortgage specialist from Bank of Montreal and Reynold Sequeira, sales agent from Re/max Realty giving an opportunity to the community to present their skills and experience and sheer exhilaration of competetive sport.
