Beltangady, Jan 2: In a complaint filed with the Nellyadi police, Neelamma residing in Kapinabagil Boodubail of Kaukrady village near Kokkada has accused Vasappa Gowda residing in Boodujal Janata Colony in Nidle village  of murdering her husband Elyanna Gowda  on Thursday January 1.

She said, that Vasappa Gowda, an old family acquaintance, came to her home at around 11 pm on Thursday  and sought to stay at her home overnight, explaining that he was unable to go back to his village, as it was hard to get vehicles at night. After having food, he went out with Elyanna Gowda, husband of Neemma. Later he came back and forcibly snatched away the golden chain she was wearing and disappeared in the forest.  Neelamma raised an alarm, at which her brothers came running from their neighbouring houses. They then launched a search for Vasappa Gowda and found that Elyanna Gowda had been killed by Vasappa, by thrusting his head into a hole dug in the earth for planting of sapling.

It was found that Vasappa Gowda had decamped along with his family from his house in Boodujal. The Nellyadi police have launched a manhunt for Vasappa Gowda.
