Bantwal: Ira Trophy Goes to Manjeshwar Veeramurti Kabbadi Team

Bantwal, Jan 2:
Manjeshwar Veeramaruti team and Mangalore University team bagged the ‘Ira Trophy–2008’, at the state-level open Kabaddi tournament held at Ira School here on Wednesday December 31.
 
Seventeen teams from Karnataka and Kerala participated in the state-level Kabaddi tournament held in memory of late Vittal Shetty, organized by Bharat Friends Club.
 
Veeramaruti team defeated Ujaru team of Kumble in the men’s finals with a score of 40 -25. Mangalore University team bagged the trophy by defeating Ujire SDM College 50-35. 
 


Manoj of Veeramaruti team bagged the man of the series and excellent catcher award in the men’s division.  Madhu of Ujaru team was adjudged excellent raider.
 
Harini of Mangalore University team and Kavya of Ujire SDM College team bagged excellent player award in women’s division.
 
Taluk panchayat president Chandrahas Karkera presented the awards to the winners. 
 
Ira gram panchayat president Sudhakar K T, Bharat Friends Club president Praveen Shetty Sampila, honourary president Chandappa Suvarna, secretary Ramachandra D, joint secretary Rehman D, vice-president Supreet Bhandary, treasurer Lateshkumar K. and sports secretary Rajesh D, were present on the occasion.
