Puttur, Dec 31: Navin(18), son of Jarappa Moolya from Kedila in Bantwal taluk died after a raft in which he was riding capsized in Enithadka in Koila village near Kadaba on the afternoon of Tuesday December 30.
Navin accompanied by his recently married friend Balakrishna, had gone to the home of Mahabala Naik in Enithadka to take part in a function. The youth alongwith another man, then went to the banks of river Kumaradhara located nearby and sought to go on a joy ride on a raft used by local people to cross the river. The raft reportly overturned when it was some distance away from the banks. Two youths in the raft swam to safety while Navin, who did not know to swim, drowned and died, it is learnt.
Kadaba police have registered a case.
