Moodbidri, Dec 31:
‘Vijay Show’, a musical extravaganza, was staged at Siddakatte St Patrick Church near here, recently.  The show began with the prayer hymn ‘Somya Tujem Utar’.

Vijay Vas, leading pop singer of Mangalore, sang several numbers in Konkani and Tulu including ‘Sopnethalom’ and ‘Havn Mog Kartham’, from his Konkani album ‘Apalipa’, and ‘Madhubala’ from Tulu album ‘Preeti Uppad’. He also sang the famous Goan hit song ‘Meera’ along with popular Hindi numbers ‘Socha Hai’ and ‘Tum Ho Toh’ from the movie ‘Rock On’ as well as ‘Zara Sa’ from ‘Jannat’, ‘Baatein Kuch Ankhe Se’ from ‘Metro’, and ‘Pehli Nazar Main’ from ‘Race’.

Vijay’s brand new non-stop Baila album, ‘Baila Fest’ was released by Siddakatte parish priest Fr Valerian D’Souza, during the show.  Allan D’Souza and Jaison Soares have sung with Vijay for ‘Baila Fest’.  The music is composed by Konkani and Kannada musician Vanil Veigas.

Harriet Braganza and Melvyn of ‘Chintna’ fame also joined Vijay in the show. The musical concert concluded with a mass Baila dance session. Music for the show was provided by well-known Mangalorean beat group Velocity.

Roshan Lobo Madanthyar compered the programme and over 800 people enjoyed the event.
