Siddu's Decision to Remain Aloof has Not Dented Party Chances - DKS

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Dec 29: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president D K Shivkumar opined here on Sunday December 28, that the party has not suffered on account of the party leader Siddaramaiah's decision not to campaign for the party candidates in the by-poll.

Speaking to reporters after taking part in the 123rd foundation day programme held in the KPCC office here, he reiterated that the Congress party is not dependent on any single leader. A party's success is dependent on its workers and not on leaders. Hence, just because Siddaramaiah did not involve himself with campaigning for the party candidates does not harm the party chances, he analyzed.

"I had met Siddaramaiah before the by-election. He had then promised to take part in the electioneering and also provided some guidance. I do not know as to why he backtracked from his promise. I will soon discuss with him on the issue," he explained.

"Taking a decision on Siddaramaiah for having abstained from campaigning for the party candidates is left to the high command. I do not wish to add anything about Siddaraiah, veteran leader," he said. Shivkumar also exuded confidence that his party will come out victorious in six constituencies in the by-election. Alleging that the ruling BJP and the JD(S) had entered into tacit understanding in some of the constituencies, Shivkumar said that he would lay bare the details once the results are announced.
