Udupi, Dec 27:
With news of a possible war with Pakistan gaining momentum, the arrival of a military contingent in the district created panic amongst the locals on Thursday December 25.

Rumours spread like wildfire throughout the city about war breaking out. However, the reason behind the sudden military presence was a surprising one, when it finally came to light.

The military force was traveling from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala to Goa to participate in a special camp and had stopped at Ajjarkad Town Hall to rest on their journey.

Around 250 soldiers were present in the contingent which will continue its onward journey from Udupi on Friday December 26.

Though media persons arrived to take pictures of the army men, they were not granted permission.
