Bangalore, Dec 26:  Speaking after inaugurating the newly started  Rudset National Academy in Bangalore and the silver jubilee celebrations of the Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institute (RUDSET) which has its central office in Ujire in Dakshina Kannada district, union rural development ministry secretary Dr Rita Sharma hailed the Ujire-based RUDSET for selflessly serving the society since the last 25 years by providing employment training to educated unemployed persons from rural places to become self-sufficient, and announced that the union government has decided to imitate the novel methodology of RUDSET and set up centres modelled after the RUDSET in over 500 districts of the country.

Reserve Bank of India deputy governor Usha Thorat appreciated the RUDSET training systems and felt that the efficacy of these training programmes lie in making necessary changes in the training methodology in tune with changing times and using modern technology.

Dharmastala Dharmadhikari and chairman of the RUDSET Institute Dr D Veerendra Heggade presided. He said that the central government  got interested in the works of the RUDSET as most of the people trained by it have been able to succeed in the vocations they had chosen.  "I am proud to know that the central government will be implementing centres modelled after the RUDSET in most of the districts. This is an honour for the RUDSET as a whole," he said.

Syndicate Bank chairman and managing director  George Joseph, Canara Bank chairman and managing director A C Mahajan, rural development ministry joint secretary Dr Amar Singh and state panchayat raj and rural development department secretary Ravikumar were present. 42 people who were earlier trained by the RUDSET and who have come up in life were felicitated.

RUDSET executive director K N Janardan welcomed. Ujire RUDSET director Shashidhar Shetty proposed vote of thanks. Anantapur RUDSET director Y Ravindranath Reddy presented the programme.
