Puttur, Dec 25: Under the banner of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarti Parishat (ABVP), hundreds of students staged a protest in front of the town police station here on Wednesday December 24, condemning the incidents of assault on the Hindu students of the local Philomena College and urging the concerned to initiate steps to stop recurrence of such incidents in future.

The protesters were also demanding for initiating strict action against the perpetrators of an environment of fear in the Phelomena College campus, arresting of people who have been assaulting the Hindu students under the Goonda Act, immediate arrest of those who beat up students Sharat, Diwakar and Vikas on Wednesday and also for taking steps against those who tease and behave indecently with the girl students of the College.

ABVP state executive committee member Lakshmiprasad, taluk unit president Divyaraj and several others addressed the protesters.  The speakers warned of stronger protests if the concerned to not act swiftly and affectively.
