Bangalore: Woman Arrested on Charges of Misrepresentation, Cheating and Fraud

Bangalore, Dec 24: The policemen attached to the Basaveshwar Nagar police station in the city have arrested a woman on charges of duping scores of unemployed people to the tune of several lacs of rupees, by pretending to be close to the union railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and being a member of the selection board of the railways.

The arrested person has been identified as A Prema (46), a resident of Kirlosker Colony of Basaveshwar Nagar here. After her arrest, the police have come to know that she had spread her network in Kerala and Tamilnadu in addition to Karnataka, where she succeeded in collecting huge sums of money from gullible unemployed youth, promising them jobs in the railways.

The policemen claim, that she duped people to the extennt of about Rs 30 lac in this way. She also claimed to be the organizing secretary of the Rasdhreeya Janatadal party, they said.

Acting on a complaint filed by a man named S Yuvraj from Magadi Road in the city that Prema collected Rs 1.30 lac from him on the promise of securing him the job of the first grade assistant in the railways but failed to keep the promise, the policemen arrested the lady.
