Mangalore: Nursing College Lecturer Ends Life

Mangalore, Dec 24: Reji Mon Chacko(25), working as lecturer in a city-based nursing college, committed suicide in his room late evening on Monday December 22. Looming worries over the results of an examination for which he had appeared, reportedly drove him to commit suicide.

Chacko, from Kottayam district in Kerala, was living in a rented house in Kadri Mallikatta along with his colleague named Jetto Paul. After attending the college, Jetto had gone elsewhere on some work while Chacko went to the room. When Jetto arrived at his home after 7 pm, Chacko did not respond to repeated knocking of the door. The police were informed, and thereafter the door was broken. It was found, that Chacko used his loincloth to make a noose and hung from it in the bath room.

Reji Mon chacko had completed general nursing course in Bangalore and had attended to nursing job in Hyderabad for two years. He had appeared for the B Sc nursing course from a city college and joined for the job on the hope that he would complete his degree. However, as the day of the results neared, he reportedly became nervous because of the fear that he might not complete the degree and hence lose his job.
