Udupi: Week-long Tulu Drama Competition from Dec 27

Udupi, Dec 23: The Kemtoor Tulu drama competition will be held at Muddanna Mantapa of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) College from Saturday December 27 to Friday January 2 at 6.30 pm.

The event is being organized by the Udupi Tulu Koota in association with Manipal Academy and MGM College.

Chandrahasa Ullal, theatre artiste, will inaugurate the programme on Saturday December 27.

Nirantara Moodubettu’s Mahamaye ‘Daivo Mayandal’, directed by Ramesh Kumar Shetty will be staged at 6.30 pm on the inaugural day. M Prasad Rao’s ‘Ulaidaye’ by Ranjini Artistes, Katapady, will be performed on Sunday December 28.

B S Ram Shetty’s ‘Azamdi Asar’ by Bhumika Haradi will be staged on Monday December 29, and Jayaram Neelavar’s ‘Ekalavye’ by Karavali Artistes Vadabhandeshwara, Malpe, on Tuesday December 30. Raju Manipal's ‘Giraste’ will be performed by Sangam Artistes, Manipal, on Wednesday December 31, and Basuva Kodagu’s, ‘Chandire Moodandi Pady’ by Kodavoor Sumanasa Cultural Seva Trust on Thursday January 1. 

Raghavendra Rao Katpady’s ‘E Nalke Daye’ will be staged by Udyavara Narayana Guru Kalamandali on Friday January 2. A drama review competition will also be conducted later. Interested viewers can submit the reviews at the MGM College canteen on or before Sunday January 4.

Three drama performances will be arranged by the winner of the contest and the prize for the winner of the review will be handed over on Sunday January 11.

Litterateurs of other languages, and those interested must participate to make it a success, said Dr Bhaskarananda Kumar, president, Tulukoota, and Udyavara Nagesh Kumar, convener, competition committee, in a press release.
