Udupi, Dec 22: Bellary entrepreneur Suresh Shetty Gurma inaugurated the men’s state-level floodlit volleyball tournament on Saturday December 20, at Pompeii College grounds, on the occasion of golden jubilee celebrations of Polipu Government Pre-university College and Polipu ZP Higher Primary School.
Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon presided over the programme and urged the sportsmen to excel in life by inculcating sports skills and inspiration.
Polipu Mogaveer Maha Sabha president Sarvottam Kunder, social activist G B Salian, Polipu Government Pre-university College principal N V Sasidar, entrepreneur Bhaskar R Mendon, taluk panchayat member Arun Shetty Padoor, Kutyar gram panchayat president Nityanand Shetty, Mudarangady gram panchayat president Ravindra Prabhu, Western Constructions’ Taranat Kotian, and public works department contractor Kishore Kumar, were the chief guests of the occasion.
Around 16 teams from all over the state participated in the state-level volleyball tourney.
Meanwhile zlla panchayat education and health standing committee president Nayana Ganesh inaugurated the inter-collegiate district-level women’s throwball tournament. The programme was presided over by entrepreneur Bhaskar Mendon.
Taluk panchayat member Jagdish Acharya, public works department contractor Kishore Kumar Kalattoor, Ravindra Shetty Katpady, Polipu Circle Friends honorary president Vijay Karkera, Polipu Government Pre University College principal N V Sasidar, Polipu Mogaveer Maha Sabha president Sarvottam Kundar, Kaup Mogaveer Maha Sabha president Mohan Bangera, S C Putran, H M Karkera, and Shankar Putran, were present on the occasion.
Polipu Sridar Kanchan compered the programme. Polipu Circle Friends president Kiran assisted in the sports meet.
