Mangalore: ‘ACCE–Ultra Excel Awards 2008’ For Creative Engineers

Mangalore, Dec 18: The second ‘ACCE–Ultra Excel Awards 2008’ will be held at Loyola Hall, Kodialbail, on Friday December 19 at 6.30 pm.

The programme is being jointly organized by the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (ACCE) and Ultra Tech Cement Limited (UTCL).

People do not shower praise if construction is good. But, a single defect is made into a major issue, said Dr Ramachandra, zonal technical head, ACCE, Bangalore, speaking at a press conference on Thursday December 18.
The main benefit of this award is that local engineers, architects, and contractors, will have a chance to come into the limelight. Three awards will be given away on the occasion. Apart from this, the award for ‘Outstanding Concrete Structure’ in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts will also be given, he said.

Participating as a chief guest, Vinay Hegde, chancellor, Nitte University, will hand over the award to the winner.

Along with the owner, the structural designer, engineer, architect, and the contractor, will also be felicitated. B S Chandrashekar Rao, speaker, will deliver the speech on transportation options in the growing city.

Umesh B Rao will preside over the function while S V Patil, zonal head, marketing, Ultra Tech Cement, will be the chief guest. Rajendra Kalbavi, chairman, ACCE, Dr Ramachandra, and Nagesh Putta Swamy, regional head, UTCL, were present at the press conference.
