Udupi, Dec 18: The Mangalore University-level science fest ‘Scientio Festival ‘08’, was inaugurated at Milagres College, Kallianpur near here, by Dr Shiva Prakash, senior scientist, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
In his keynote address, he talked of science and scientists. Dr Prakash called upon the youth to take up research. Fr Fred Mascarenhas, principal, presided. It was followed by a science lecture competition, science model competition, poster competition, and quiz competition.
Bhuvanendra College, Karkala, bagged the overall championship while St Agnes College, Mangalore, bagged the first place in the quiz competition. Vijaya College, Mulky and Vivekananda College, Puttur, also did well in the festival.
