Karwar: Bangarappa to Canvass for Congress Candidate

Daijiworld Media Network – Karwar (SP)

Karwar, Dec 15: Reacting positively to a request made by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president R V Deshpande, ex-chief minister and MP S Bangarappa has decided to canvass for the Congress candidate from the local assembly constituency.

The Samajwadi Party state president will undertake electioneering for the success of the Congress party nominee for this by-election. The decision was taken after Deshpande met Bangarappa on Sunday and prevailed on him to support the party.

"I would have taken up electioneering in all the constituencies if the Congress and the JD (S) had entered into an electoral understanding. As they failed to strike a deal, I will confine myself to this lone constituency," Bangarappa clarified.

Unlike his home district Shimoga, Bangarappa does not seem to be wielding enough clout in the coastal belt.

Coastal belt has Namdhari community domination, which is also a part and parcel of Idiga community, to which Mr. Bangarappa belongs. Mera Bharat Mahan.
