Rikeetha Pereira Emerges Runners-up in UK Grand Pix Tennis

Daijiworld Media Network - London (GA)

London, Dec 9:
Rikeetha Pereira, the 10-year-old Mangalorean tennis champion finished runners-up in the London Grand Pix under 14-year group. The finals were held at London Tennis Academy, Roe Hampton, London on Saturday December 6.

She defeated 14-year-old US girl Danielle DeTorro 6-3 7-6 in the semifinals. But she was swept aside 6-1 6-0 by 13-year-old UK sensation Holly Monahan.  The UK girl went on attacking mode right from the word go and gave no breather whatsoever to Rikeetha to recover. However, taking into consideration the competition level, Rikeeta's performance is indeed heartwarming and promising.

She is now on her way to Nagpur, India to play the Nationals.
