Udupi: Belapu SHG Federation Inaugurated

Udupi, Dec 8: The inauguration ceremony of Belapu Self-Help-Groups (SHGs) Federation, under Padubidri zone of the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Programme (SKDRDP), was held on Sunday December 7 at the Sri Durgadevi High Primary School.

District and sessions judge K N Phanindra said after the inauguration that SKDRDP has brought a ray of hope in society and has boosted people’s confidence, kindled religious sentiments, and empowered social status by making them economically independent. 

Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon was the chief guest of the occasion, who said that the assistance of NGOs is essential in helping government schemes succeed.  SKDRDP has indeed done its yeomen service in this regard, he added.

Belapu gram panchayat president Deviprasad Shetty, district Bar Association president Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, Yellur Sri Vishveshwar temple managing trustee Y Prafulla Shetty, Kunjoor Sri Durga temple managing trustee Nadimane P Mohan Rao, SKDRDP agriculture officer Gunakar, and Paniyoor school head teacher Sadhoo M, were present on the dais.

Belapu SHG Federation president Mumtaz Begum presided over the programme and handed over charge to new president Shivaram Acharya. Lata K Amin welcomed the gathering while SKDRDP Padubidri zonal overseer Venu proposed the vote of thanks.  Usha Kulal compered the programme.
