Mangalore: Security Tightened at City Airport

Mangalore, Dec 6: Amidst rising security concerns in the wake of the recent terror attacks in the country, visitors to Bajpe airport are banned with immediate effect.

Officials have announced a 24-hour red alert in the airport and additional checking is on for all vehicles and passengers. Passengers have to go through a thorough check by security personnel, before being allowed inside.

Checkpoints have also been set up near the airport gate and Mura junction. Personnel of the Border Security Force, Karnataka State Reserve Police, and fire brigade, have been deployed in the vicinity of the airport. The police presence has also been significantly increased. Passengers and luggage is allowed entry only after a second stage of checking said M R Vasudeva, director of the airport.
