Mangalore: Moily Blames NDA Regime for Worsening Terror Scenario

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Dec 5: Ex-chief minister and Central Administrative Reforms Commission chairman M Veerappa Moily sought to blame the erstwhile National Democratic Alliance (NDA) regime at the centre for the heightened terrorist activities in the country. "Because of some wrong measures taken by the then NDA government, terrorist elements got a boost," he alleged.

Speaking to reporters who met him on Thursday December 4, Moily cited that the then NDA government behaved as if it had surrendered itself to the terrorists. This phenomenon was particularly visible in the hijacking of an aero plane to Kandahar, he explained. Moily also criticized the then union government headed by A B Vajpayee for being soft on terrorism and not taking stern steps to contain terrorist activities.

"The handiwork of Pakistan in the Mumbai terrorist attacks has become clear. The Pakistan government has been asked to hand over 21 terrorists who have been sheltered in that country, to us. The union government will be taking firm steps to ensure that those involved with this heinous crime do not go scot-free, Moily asserted.

When reminded that the state chief minister Yeddyurappa has demanded for the deployment of additional security forces in the state, Moily advised the chief minister to strengthen the state police force instead. He also alleged that the state government has failed to implement the recommendations made to streamline the state police force and assured, that the central government will never shirk from its responsibility to provide funds needed to beef up security wherever necessary.

Mr. Moily is right to a certain extent. NDA had committed many blunders as far as security of the country and communal harmony are concerned. Many blasts and terrorist attacks took place during NDA's time. The Kargil fiasco was another example! However, Mr. Moily has to admit the failures of the UPA rule as well. No doubt, terrorists and communal groups had become stronger during NDA rule. The killing of more than 2,000 Muslims by Modi and his supporters in Gujrath happened during NDA rule. Mr. Moily was responding to the propaganda made by BJP leaders like LK Adavani, Rajnath Sing, Arul Jaitley, Susma Swaraj, Narendra Modi etc, during the recent Assembly elections, against UPA for the terror attacks. Instead of supporting the Govt during this critical time, BJP played dirty politics, in order to get political mileage. Let us remember that, in spite of so many security lapses and failures, the then Home Minister(LK Advani) did not resign! At least the UPA has some decency. Home Minister Shivraj Patil resigned and CM and HM of Maharastra also resigned. See the difference. No one from NDA resigned during Kargil invasion by Pakistani forces, in spite of a major security lapses and negligence on the part of NDA Ministers. Readers, let us have a fair assessment. Do not blame Congress led UPA govt for everything.

Moily's party when in power could not even protect their own Prime Minister!! And he is now giving lecture on security? I think Moily is trying hard to build base in Mangalore for upcoming MP Elections so is playing dirty politics.

Dear Moily, the whole world knows that the congress party has failed and is totally responsible for this terror attack. Your common sense and knowledge is totally bleak and gone for a six. Take ownership of the happening in Mumbai and restrain from talking like the other congress ministers did.

Mr Moily, there is no use of blaming the past governments time and over again. This as everyone understands is to hide the failures of the current government. Ours is not an 18th century country and citizens are well aware of the past and interested only in the future which your party is ruining currently. What about your party man Shivraj patil, deshmukh and others? A suggestion - Support the state/national government in terms of strengthning the security and the police force rather than opposing it and brooding over the past. Wake up. We have suffered enough under under your blame game, vote bank politics.

I would sincerely suggest Mr. Moily to not play dirty politics at this hour of grief. Blaming old political alliances is not going to conceal your mistakes. The congress has failed terribly in terms of intelligence agency and national security. This cannot be denied. How can they blame Mr. Vajpayee who has had so many feathers to his cap. Not taking sides here but Sir, its time you tried giving an explanation to all those skeletons which fell out of your party's closet during the terror attacks. What about the foolish behaviour of the then home minister Mr. Shivaraj (Fashion Conscious) Patil???
