Udupi: BSNL Employees’ Union Stages Protest, Demands Include Better Pay

Udupi, Dec 5: The district telecom BSNL employees’ union staged a protest in front of the telecom office here on Friday December 5. 

The protest was staged to urge telecom authorities to revise their pay, to award interim benefits, to pay a minimum of Rs 10,000 as bonus, to implement the report on scale variations, to introduce SC/ST quota on promotions, to regularize the services of daily telecom workers, to solve issues of contractors-employees, to solve hindrances to compassionate appointments, to hike pay of SRTOA and TM Grade IV employees, to cancel IPO arrangement, and to take measures for profitability of BSNL, amongst others.  

The union has threatened to stage aggravated protests on Thursday December 11 and Friday December 12, if their demands are not met. District telecom union leaders Shashidar Golla, H D Pai, Dejappa, Anand Ganiga, Mukund, and Narasimha Rao, were present on the occasion.
