Mangalore: Plans for Yakshagana and Puppetry Study Centre on Anvil

Mangalore, Dec 5: An experts’ conference on setting up a Yakshagana and puppetry study centre, was held at Mangalore University, recently. P Dayanand Pai, syndicate member, Mangalore University, delivered the keynote address on the occasion.

Prof M Kaveriappa, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University, presided over the event. The committee was formed for introduction of a certificate and diploma course through the study, research, training, and stage performance of Yakshagana and puppetry. 

Dr Prabhakar Joshi, Prof M L Samaga, Dr K Raghavan Nambiar, Bhaskar K Kamath, P V Mohan, Prof P S Yadapadittaya, Dr Shripati Kallooraya, and Prabhakar, were elected  members of the committee.

Artistes like Keremane Shambu Hegde, Dr Amrutha Someshwar, Kumble Sundar Rao, Dr K Raghavan Nambiar, V R Hegde, N G Mohan, Tejomaya, syndicate member, and P V Mohan, were present.
