Udupi: State-level Badminton Tourney in MIT Stadium

Udupi, Dec 4: The Star State Ranking Badminton Tourney was held at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) stadium here on Wednesday December 3.

The tourney was jointly organized by MIT and Udupi-Manipal Badminton Academy.

Speaking after inaugurating the tourney, MLA Raghupati Bhat said that the international-level stadium in Udupi is being built on the MIT model. Three badminton courts have been set up at Ajjarakad in Udupi. The initiate of the MIT towards inspiring the youths in the field of sports deserves to be praised, he added.

Presiding over the function Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor, Manipal University said that the university gives lot of importance to sports activities. The sports complex which is under construction, is being built at a cost of Rs 50 crore, he revealed. All the facilities required for indoor and outdoor games will be provided in the coming days, he promised.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, former member of Lok Sabha and others were present.   

S S Pabla, director, MIT welcomed the gathering. Dr Satish Mallya, secretary, Badminton Association proposed vote of thanks.
