Mangalore: Construction Workers State Conference

Mangalore, Dec 4: A meeting for the purpose of the formation of the reception committee for the upcoming Building and Construction Workers' state conference here was held in the city recently.

Speaking on the occasion, B Madhava, state president, Karnataka State Building and Construction Workers Federation (CITU) said, that a concerted struggle is necessary to improve the economic condition and other facilities of the building and construction workers.

He claimed that because of the efforts put in by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, separate service rules were formed for the construction workers, with effect from November this year.

The reception committee was formed, by electing K R Shriyan as its president and Vasant Achari and B M Bhat as secretary and treasurer respectively. Apart from them, 54 members were elected as vice-presidents and 55 as secretaries of the reception committee.

K R Shriyan, district president, CITU, K Yadav Shetty, district secretary, Pranta Raita Sangha, Vasant Achari, geneal secretary, CITU, Balakrishna Shetty, secretary and others were present.
