Udupi: Nitte Education Trust to Host District Kannada Sahitya Sammelan on Dec 30, 31

Udupi, Dec 4: The Fifth District Kannada Sahitya Sammelan will be held at the Nitte Education Trust, Karkala, on Tuesday December 30, and Wednesday December 31, said Ambatanaya Mudrady, president, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, at a press meet on Wednesday December 3.

A Sahitya Sammelan welcome committee has been formed during the meeting held at Nitte and Nitte Education Trust chairman N Vinay Hegde, and MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, were elected honorary president and executive president, respectively.  The people’s representatives of the local gram panchayat, taluk panchayat, and zilla panchayat, are the office-bearers of the committee. 

Veteran litterateur Dr Na Mogasale will be the chairman of this Sammelan.  Eminent litterateurs and distinguished personalities who have contributed immensely to the promotion of culture will be felicitated on the occasion, he added.

The welcome committee will meet at Nitte Education Trust on Saturday December 6 to prepare the schedules of programmes to be held during the Sammelan. The District Kannada Sahitya Parishat aims to organize three district Sahitya Sammelans during his three-year term, emphasized Mudrady.

Baikady Suprasad Shetty was elected the special campaigning secretary for the membership drive of the Parishat, he added. District Kannada Sahitya Parishat chief secretary Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, Bhuvanaprasad Hegde, Padmanabha Kekunnaya, and Baikady Suprasad Shetty, were present at the press conference.
