Mangalore: Bar Theft Accused Arrested

Mangalore, Dec 3: The policemen have succeeded in nabbing a person who stole cash from the counter of a bar and restaurant located in Hampankatta area recently.

The arrested person has been identified as Jagadish J (23) from Bekal. He had broken open the cash counter of the said bar on the night of November 28, by using some implements and had taken away around a lac of rupees from there. On a complaint filed by the bar owner Balakrishna Poojary, the Bunder policemen had registered a complaint.

During the interrogation of a person who was taken into custody after finding him moving about suspiciously from near the service bus stand of the city on Tuesday December 2, Bunder police inspector G Umesh and staff realized that he was the person involved with the said theft. They recovered Rs 88,150 from him. The thief was produced in the court, where he was remanded to judicial custody.

Reportedly, Jagadish is a coolie worker at Paneyala in Kasargod, and used to frequent Mangalore. During a visit to the said restaurant, he had observed huge amount of cash lying in the counter and planned to steal the same, it is learnt.
