Mangalore: Rxlife ‘Cycle Rally-2008’ on Dec 7

Mangalore, Dec 2: Rxlife, a lifestyle modification center in the city, in association with Youth Hostel Association of India, Team Mangalore, and Gandhinagar Park Trust, will organize the second edition of Rxlife Cycle Rally on Sunday December 7.

Addressing media persons on Tuesday December 2, Smitha Shenoy, organizer of the event, said that the objectives of the cycle rally were creating awareness on conservation of oil, health benefits of cycling, popularizing cycling as an expression of concern for environment, sensitizing children on safe vehicle riding, and impressing the need for safeguarding cyclists’ interests upon the district administration.

The 18 km rally is open to all cyclists aged above 10 and there is no participation fee. ‘It will start at Gandhinagar and will end at the same place. Cyclists will cross the Gurupur river from Bengre to Old Port on barges after reaching there via Thannirbavi. It is expected that more than 500 cyclists will take part in the rally’, said Giridhar Kamath, organizer of the event. Dr Gayathri Bhat and Vandana Nayak were present on the occasion.
